Toyota To Host Toyota Mekong Club Championship 2016

June 13, 2016 – Toyota Motor Asia Pacific will organize the Toyota Mekong Club Championship (TMCC) for the third consecutive year.


Toyota established TMCC in 2014 with the objective of enriching the community through football in Mekong countries. The championship started with only 4 countries - Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam - and the tournament was hosted only in Vietnam. Last year’s tournament was expanded to include Thailand with matches played in all participating countries. In 2014, Vietnam was crowned the champions. Last year, Thailand took home the trophy while Cambodia came in second. Given the extraordinary sportsmanship displayed by players and great enthusiasm demonstrated by fans, Toyota has decided to continue TMCC in 2016.


Currently Toyota is planning to hold the tournament from November 2016 to January 2017. The tournament will feature winning teams from the domestic leagues of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. More details will be announced at the official press conference this coming October.
