Toyota Mekong Club Championship 2017
Toyota established TMCC back in 2014 with the objective of enriching the lives of the community through football in the Mekong countries. The championship was hosted in Vietnam started with clubs participating from 4 countries – Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam. In 2015, Thailand joined in the championship and matches were played in all participating countries. Last year, Thailand’s Buriram United F.C emerged victorious and took home the trophy after 2 Legs of Finals held in Vientiane, Laos and Bangkok, Thailand. Considering the great enthusiasm demonstrated by the fans and the success of TMCC over the past few years, Toyota has decided to continue with TMCC in 2017.
Currently, Toyota partnering with the Football Associations from Cambodia, Lao, Thailand and Vietnam is planning to hold the competition from December 2017 to January 2018. The competition will feature clubs from the Lao Premier League, Cambodia’s Metfone C League, Thailand’s Toyota League Cup and Vietnam’s Toyota V.League 1. Please refer to the Fact Sheet for the competition schedule. More details will be announced at the Regional Press Conference this coming November in Bangkok, Thailand.
In addition to enriching lives of the community, TMCC started with the idea of connecting the passion and energy of football with Toyota’s constant pursuit to bring ‘ever better’ cars to customers. We believe that pursuing sports enables the communities we serve to develop their passions and aspirations. Football was chosen as it is a popular sport in this region and has broad appeal that transcends all boundaries.
